Instagram owners Meta and Pinterest have donated significant donations to a charity installed after 14 -year -old Molly Russell, BBC understands.

In 2017, Molly killed two platforms in 2017 after coming into contact with a stream of suicide and self-loss material in Northwest London. A coroner concluded the negative effects of the online material that contributed to his death.

It is believed that Dan Molly went to Rose Foundation, which campaigns for Internet security. Meta and Pinterest refused to comment.

Molly’s family said that they have decided not to take legal action against tech companies and “will never accept compensation” on Molly’s death “.

In a statement through his Solicitor, the family said “they carry forward the objectives that we share with meta and pinterest and help young people to ensure online positive experience through Molly Rose Foundation”.

Molly Russell’s inquiry heard that the social media algorithm fed thousands of pictures and videos related to suicide and self-loss.

Meta and other social media companies have to face many cases from families in the US that claim that their children were damaged by social media. The cases also include Attorney General of more than 40 states, claiming that the design of platforms damaged children.

The first test is expected to be heard in November.

Payment of payment to Molly Rose Foundation is not publicly made. Rose Molly was the middle name.

The annual report of the charity states: “Molly Rose Foundation has received grants from donors who want to remain anonymous. After considering their obligations, trustees have agreed to respect these desires.”

The BBC believes that it refers to payment for donations from two social media companies. These payments started in 2024 and are expected to be paid over several years.

It is not known at all when there was an agreement on donation.

Within the last nine months, the charity has recruited a CEO, two public policy managers, heads of communication and a funding manager.

When asked about the donation, Charity reiterated in a statement that it would “respect these desires” for oblivion.

It is understood that no member of the Russell family has received any money from donations.

After contacting the family’s Solicitor, it was released in a statement saying: “After Molly’s death of the coroner, we have decided that we will take forward the objectives that we will share with meta and pintrest, which will share with meta and pintresht through Molly Rose Foundation, so that it will ensure that young people can be able to ensure that young people have a positive experience.

Ian Russell, Molly’s father, has widely talked about irregular social media dangers and MBE has been created for services for online child safety.

Molly Rose Foundation has become a leading voice in highlighting irregular social media threats and Meta remains highly critical.

This has called the government to strengthen the current online security act with strong laws.

It is not calling for children’s social media ban according to the plan in Australia, but it is demanding that technology companies take more responsibility for the material given to young people through social media algorithms.

In March this year, in collaboration with publisher Pan Macmillan, Charity sent a copy of a book written by Facebook whistleblore Sara Vinn-Viliums to every MP in the country. It makes a series of important claims about what she had seen on Facebook during her seven years on Facebook, Ms. Vyan-Villiams, who used to be the Global Public Policy Director of the company.

Molly’s father Ian Russell is an unpaid trustee of the Foundation and remains a vocal campaigner.

Ian Russell told Laura Kunsberg that there was no “real movement” from the government on online security

In January, Mr. Russell wrote to the Prime Minister Sir Kir Stmper, called upon the government to work immediately to save the young people online. In his letter, Mr. Russell said that Britain was “going back on online security”.

He sang Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta for specific criticism after the company. Script your fact-checking program on Facebook,

He said that X owners Mr. Zuckerberg and Elon Musk were part of the “bulk renovation” of the online world, going away from security towards “Loze-Fair, Any-Any-Gauz Model”.

He told BBC’s Laura Kunsberg: “Mark Zuckerberg has fundamentally replaced the platforms, turning backwards from security and has shown that the platforms are not really to play safe here, they are here to make money.”

Matthew Bergman, an American lawyer and founder of the social media Victims Law Center, welcomed the news of Dan and paid tribute to the “uncertain efforts” of Mauli’s father “” uncertain efforts “to make social media companies accountable.

Meta and Pinterest were approached by BBC News, but refused to comment.
