Meghan Markle lands in troubled waters after making the leap from advocacy
Meghan Markle’s shift from advocate to business owner turns some heads, and lands her in criticism-ridden waters.
Broadcaster Esther Krakue and News.com.au’s Royal Reporter Bronte Coy were the ones to discuss this, that too on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show.
That conversation saw the two get candid about the Duchess’ shift towards influencer-hood.
The first one to comment was Ms Bronte and she was quoted saying, “[She’s a] professional hot girl. She’s a content creator slash influencer now, I would say. And there’s nothing wrong with those things. But the influencer part, she’s selling the stuff on Instagram.”
In terms of what Ms Esther had to say, she straight up agreed and said, “I mean, I find it strange that she didn’t quite lean into the things that she has professional credits for, like she didn’t do some theatre charity or things?”
Overall “I just wish she did things that are less vacuous,” she went as far as to say.
Because seeing Meghan do things like ‘theatre’ or ‘art’ where she was “promoting women in a realistic way, not this kind of very glossy sheen,” would have been better in the eyes of the expert.
For those unversed with the change that’s come in Meghan Markle’s public work, she started off as a gender equality advocate, and even gave a speech at the UN back in 2015, for International Women’s Day.
After marrying Prince Harry she also served public interest under the Firm’s umbrella. Her charity work at the time included things like aiding in female unemployment among other things.
However since moving to California, Meghan went from starting a charity like Archewell, to launching a luxury lifestyle brand, and also a podcast talking about female ‘archetypes’ as well as female entrepreneurs and business owners.
