Manchester United’s horrid run continued even after the football season was over. The Ruben Amorim side was handed a 1-0 loss against ASEAN All-Stars in a post-season friendly match at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday.
Nearly 73,000 United fans and supporters were in attendance for their team’s first game in Malaysia since 2009. However, things they were left disappointed with a loss as there was a smattering of boos at full-time.
After another disappointing finish, Amorim said he felt guilty for United’s performance and they deserve boos from the fans. “I’m always guilty of the performance of the team, no matter what. Since I’ve been here from the first day, I am guilty. The boos from the fans is something that we need, maybe,” said the Portuguese after the match.

“Because every game we lost in the Premier League, they (fans) were always there (supporting). It’s like the way of playing, if they see that it’s not working, they will change the way they behave. But I felt when we finished and walked away, the supporters were with us. But, again, let’s wait for the next season,” he added.
A 71st-minute goal from Maung Maung Lwin was the difference between both the teams. Amorim admitted that United were slow on the pitch and should have performed better.
“We should perform better. We were slow, we don’t have in us to win every exercise in training, and every game the important thing is we had no injuries,” said a dejected Amorim.
“With some players it was a risk but we wanted to show respect to the fans. We should win with these kind of games,” he added.

Before concluding, Amorim declined to confirm the signing of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, who reportedly is set to join United for a 62.5 million Euro deal.
“You have to wait for that for the next season. It is for you guys to talk about.I won’t confirm anything. I have no news. We will see. There will be some changes,” he said.
Man United finished a terrible Premier League campaign, where they finished 15th in the standings. They lost the Europa League final to a fellow Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, to end another campaign without any silverware. The Red Devils will play another friendly, this time against Hong Kong in Hong Kong on Friday.
