Orlando magic guard Jalen Sugs will undergo surgery to remove a cartilage piece in his left knee and is out indefinitely, the team announced on Sunday afternoon
Sugg’s return will be based on rehabilitation and is expected to make complete recovery.
On Friday, Magic announced that Suggle would be out indefinitely with a trocly injury in the knee before discovering a piece of cartilage in the joint.
Sugs left the play of January 3 with back cramps and made only one appearance since then won on 25 January on Detroit Piston. It was during his ramp-up to return to play that he experienced discomfort in his knee and tested further.
Known for its defense, Sugg is average of a career height of 16.2 points in its fourth season and a career of 4.0 rebounds per game.
Magic has withdrawn a step after finishing fifth in the Eastern Conference Standing last year and for the first time after the 2019-20 season. The team plays with a record of 29-32 on Sunday and sits in the eighth position.
Orlando’s struggles can be attributed to a large extent for hurting the top players of the team. Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner both missed out for several weeks with torn oblique injuries. Sugg, Banchero and Wagner have played just six games this season and 97 minutes with total minutes.
Magic has lost three of their last four matches and three games remain on the seven-game homestand which continues against Toronto Repater on Sunday.
