Why can you rely on Tom’s hardware

Our expert reviewers testify and compare hours compared to products and services so that you can choose the best for yourself. Get more information about how we test.

Loditech’s wireless charging mouse pads, powerplays, have managed to meet the test of time. It first started in 2017 and is still getting stronger. In fact, the company launched last July G309 lightspaid The mouse, which facilitates a supercappersiter, holds enough charge to power it when it is not directly touching the powerplay mats, and therefore it can be used with powerplays, sales batteries.

While the powerplay was never Wild Popular, this is the only wireless charging gaming mouse pad you can buy even today (RIP, Razor hyperflux,

But it has been eight years after the launch of Powerplay, and most of the current gaming mice of Loditech support mice, so an update makes sense.

Enter Logitech PowerPlay 2 – A revived powerplay with a (slight) large charging area, (slightly) is thin, comes with fewer features, and cheap … If you ignore the fact that the original powerplay $ $ Launched at 100 and then a few years later the price increased at some point.

Logitech PowerPlay 2 has a charging area that is 15% larger and is thinner up to 38.5% than the original. And when the original came with two surface options (rigid and soft) and doubled as a wireless mouse receiver, Powerplay 2 comes with just one surface (soft), and its wireless capabilities are strictly limited Only to charge. But it will be cheaper – type – when it will launch for $ 99 on March 11, 2025.

    Design of Powerplay 2

The powerplay system of Loditech has three parts – four if you include the mouse, which is not included: wireless charging mats, which sits on your desk and plugs into your PC; Mouse pad / surface, which sits on top of charging mats; And a “powerplay module,”, or a magnetic ripe that connects under a powerplay-worthy logitech gaming mouse.

In a world where the average gaming mouse pad is very, very large, Powerplay is 2 … very small. It is mostly close to the size of the medium -sized gaming mouse pad (remember that “medium size” is usually the smallest option when it comes to gaming mouse pads), not including charging modules. The surface area is 13.54 inch (344 mm) wide 11.14 inch (238 mm) deep. Logitech charging mats 0.09 inch (2.2 mm) as thick measuring, and the charging mats plus mouse mouse pad is 0.14 inch (3.5 mm) thick. Using calirs, I measured the charging pad and thick the mouse pad 0.126 inch (3.2 mm) thick – so, close enough.

In contrast, the surface of the original powerplay has accurate similar width and depth measurement, but is thick – by my measurement, 0.165 inch (4.2 mm) with charging mats, with thick and soft mouse pads, and 0.204 inch (5.2 mm) thick Charging Matt Plus Hard Mouse Pad with.

But, according to Logitech, Powerplay 2 has a 15% large charging area, so it should mean that not all surfaces of the original powerplay are part of its charging area.

The original powerplay came with both a soft mouse pad and a hard mouse pad, so the gamers could swap between the surfaces. Powerplay 2 comes with just a soft mouse pad-a very, very thin soft mouse pad with a shiny, rubber non-skid backing. The mouse mat also has a rubber, non-skid finish, and they work very well-so are not going anywhere, although it is a bit difficult to insert completely. (This is like putting a screen guard on your phone, only the bets are very few.)

The surface of the mouse pad is a shiny polyester weaving with raw, incomplete edges – Logethe will offer replacement pads (but cannot confirm the details on pricing or whether they will offer extra surface type), which is good because I am good because I am good because I I do not see this flashy sheet of the surface of the mouse pad for more than a year – if she. I am not sure why the company decided to go with just soft mouse pads, but it seems that a replacement soft mouse pad may be easily involved (and cheaply).

He said, I have no complaints about the surface as a performance or comfort – it is refiner and smooth than the soft surface of the origin, so my mouse improved the glide (sometimes so little).

Like its predecessor, Powerplay 2 has a black plastic “control module” connected to its upper left corner. The control module was 5.09 inch (129.2 mm) wide 1.36 inch (34.6 mm), and is thick 0.41 inch (10.5 mm). The control of the original powerplay is in the module – you guess – almost accurate similar measurement. But when the control module on the original powerplay has an RGB-Backlit Logitech G logo, the control module on PowerPlay 2 is RGB-free. Logitech G logo is still there, it is just plain, light-free plastic. This is not very short, however, seemed more than anything more than RGB light on the original powerplay. There is still a small white indicator on the edge of the control panel that illumates to indicate your mouse to charge.

Powerplay 2 connects your PC through a non-detective 6-foot (1.8m) rubber USB-C cable; I think I can move forward and tell that the original Powerplay charging cable was not USB-C (it was launched in 2017, friends, come-it was a micro-USB), but it was attained. A viosya USB cable is always good to look at a desktop accessory like a mouse pad, because it is the kind of thing you do not often (or ever) and therefore makes the cable management understand, but I make me understand Logitech seems to see it needs to be cut.

    Powerplay 2 performance

Powerplay 2 aims to eliminate the primary problem with wireless mice: inconvenience of charging. While it is true that most of today’s Best wireless gaming rat Decent battery life is – 100 – 150 hours you will get at least one week gaming, even if you are games like games – you still have to charge them every week or twice once. I have a wireless charging dock sitting right next to my mouse pad that I can pop my mouse whenever I am not using it (for example, now, when I am writing this review ), And stillโ€ฆ I don ‘t. And I essentially finish the need to switch to your backup mouse once a week when charging my primary mouse.

Anyway, the point of the powerplay system is to completely eliminate this problem, and it completes it … innocently. If you have a compatible wireless lodge gaming mouse and powerplay 2 (or powerplay), you will never have to plug it again. It really is that simple. I used Logitech G309, with no internal batteries (just a supercapacitor), to test it, and, well, yes – once – the mouse did not stop working while it was on Powerplay 2.

Powerplay 2 Loditech’s ownership uses wireless charging technology, of course, so it is only lodgitech gaming mice (and compatible with only a few lodgets gaming mice, although the list is very respectable). You will need to pop Logitech’s “Powerplay Module” into the mouse to charge, so you can only charge a mouse at once (you purchase a spare module for the original powerplay directly for $ 25 to $ 25 Can, and I believe you that you will be able to do the same for you “Powerplay 2 – there is a charging module from the original. No Compatible with Powerplay 2, by the way).

    Powerplay 2 features and software

Unlike the original powerplay, Powerplay 2 Loditech’s G Hub does not connect to peripheral software, as it has no adaptation option (and no other features).

The control module on the original powerplay doubled as a lightspide wireless receiver – meaning that you can connect your mouse to the powerplay and do not have to worry about plugging in a separate dongle – Control module on Powerplay 2 Only to charge. This is very disappointing, because being able to connect your mouse to the matte was definitely the other major feature of the powerplay, and Powerplay 2 does not even have a pass-through USB port (eg. Razor Jugnu V2 Pro) To make the dongle easier.

I think it can be a blessing in disguise, however, I certainly have problems connecting the original powerplay to the G hub, and when I look online, the first line of advice usually usually “try a separate USB cable” Do. ” But of course, you cannot do this with Powerplay 2, as the cable is non-disabled.

    Compatible mice

When the original powerplay was launched, only one pair can take advantage of wireless charging capabilities of Loditech gaming mice. Fortunately, eight years have given Loditech enough time to bring their mouse lineup up to speed, and Powerplay 2 is compatible with the following Loditech gaming mice:

    Ground level

If you are a fan of logitech gaming mice, the powerplay system of Logitech is excellent – it acts as advertised, and you will never have to plug your mouse again. And, okay, what else can you ask for? Of course, apparently, because Powerplay cuts all characteristics of 2 origin apart From wireless charging, and still costs $ 99. Even if we accept that the shocking price of the original powerplay was in line with inflation, or whatever, Powerplay 2 is still only $ 20 cheaper. It is worth indicating that the Powerplay is replacing the powerplay in the lineup of 2 Loditech, so … go out and grab one of the oirringnals while you can still do, I think.
