Philadelphia Big 5 history winning coach, La Sail Mains Basketball Coach Frank Duni announced on Thursday that he would retire from his post at the end of the 2024-25 season.
The 76 -year -old Danfi will infection for the role of the special assistant of the President in La Sail, his Alma Mater, agreed to a lifetime contract for that role.
“I would be grateful to all my fellow coaches and players with La Sail, forever that I have been lucky to work with my entire coaching career,” said Danfi. “I am eager to strengthen this season with my team, and as I join the next chapter of my life, I live in La Sale and to work with President Alan, (Athletic Director) Ash Puri Can’t be happy, and this great university that I call home. “
Danfi, spent 30 years as a head coach in Philadelphia, won 623 games in Penn, Temple and La Sail, where he has spent the last three sessions. He showcased 17 NCAA tournaments: Nine in the pen and six in the temple from eight-2008-13 directly when the owls were in Atlantic 10. He won the 10 Ivy League regular-season titles, a pair of the Atlantic 10 regular-season and the 2016 AAC regular-season title.
He is the only coach to hail many large men’s basketball programs.

Danfi started his college coaching career as an assistant coach in the army in 1971, spending time as a assistant in La Salle, American and Penn before becoming head coach in Penn in 1989.
He returned to La Sail in 2022, replacing Ashley Howard as the head coach of the explorers. He moved in his first year 15–19 and last season in 16–17, but struggled this season since he started the campaign with a direct win. La Sail fell more than 12-15 in total and five in Atlantic 10 to 4–10.
The school said that it would make a national discovery to find Danfi’s successor.
