No house benefits
With just two games of the Indian Premier League season for the defending champion KKR, the air problem with the Eden Garden Pitch Curator Sujan Mukherjee already in the air in Kolkata stopped the request of KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane, which requests them to provide them with pitch to assist them. Mukherjee has reportedly said that unless he is in charge, the pitch will not change in the Eden Gardens. This has commented to experts like Simon Dolal that KKR should take the team to a different place.
But this is not new. Even before Rahane, a separate Kolkata Knight Riders captain entered disagreement with pitch curator Mukherjee. It was two seasons ago, when KKR was led by Nitish Rana in 2023, who expressed displeasure over the pitch to his team, his team was being served.
However, Eden Garden Pitch Curator Sujan Mukherjee told The Indian Express that he was not obliged to produce the wicket as per the instructions of the domestic team.
Mukherjee said, “IPL is not played on the benefit of the house, and the captain can say anything.” “Is the IPL a section where it is written that the IPL franchise is to be produced according to the desires of the franchise?”
