American Pastor Josh Sulivan issued a statement after saving him from captivity after a deadly firing in the eastern Cape province of South Africa.
Sulivan wrote in a press release, “I want to start by thanking God that it was undoubtedly the worst experience of our life.” He said that his “personal relationship with Jesus” gave him the strength he needed to survive.

“I am deeply grateful to thousands of people who prayed for me while staying in captivity. It was due to these prayers that God did a miracle a few nights earlier.”
Sulivan also thanked the priority for the Directorate, Crime Investigation (Hawks), FBI, Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) special agents and South African Police. He also said that he was grateful to his wife, “whose strength and flexibility made her the strongest woman in the world last week.”

Sulivan asked for secrecy, but said that he would tell his “miraculous” story “when the time is right.

According to the Associated Press, when four people broke into his church and pulled him from a pulp, Sulivan was abducted, stating that his truck was found a few hours later. The outlet reported that the fellowship has been located in the Motherwell Township branch of Baptist Church since 2018.
