Pakistan’s former head coach Jason Gillespi launched a spectacular attack on interim head coach Aqib Javed, allegedly campaigning for coaching roles in all formats.
In a social media post, Gillespie called Javed “pranks” in response to his recent comments.
Former Australian fast bowler’s comments came after Javed’s talk after a press conference after the announcement of Pakistan’s White-Ball Squad for New Zealand’s upcoming visit.
“We have replaced about 16 coaches and 26 selectors in the last two years,” Javed said.
“If you apply that formula to any team in the world, they will face similar instability. Until there is stability from top to bottom, progress will remain elusive, ”he said.
Gillypie called Javed’s comment “cheerful”, secretly accused him of reducing him and former white-ball coach Gary Kirsten.
“These are very funny. Aakib was clearly reducing Gary and I was behind the curtain who campaigned to become coaches in all formats. He is a clown?”
It is worth mentioning that the 49 -year -old, who enjoyed a decade long international career with Australia, was appointed as Pakistan’s Test Coach on a two -year contract in April last year.
However, after a turbulent tenure marked by inconsistent performance and internal challenges, he resigned in December – for less than eight months in the job – before Pakistan’s Home Test series against South Africa.
He departed shortly after Gary Kirsten exiting in October, which left Pakistan’s coaching setup in chaos.
Kirsten, who was appointed as a white-ball head coach six months ago, stepped up amidst the reports of stressful relations with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the difficulties in aligning the team’s management structure.
In view of these departures, the former Pesar of Pakistan was named the Champions Trophy by PCB till 2025 interim white-ball coach.
However, his term has now been extended for Pakistan’s upcoming visit to New Zealand, which begins on 16 March and has a five -match T20I series, followed by three Odis.
