Quetta: Jaffer Express on Thursday resumed operations to carry more than 400 passengers, as it left from Quetta railway station to Peshawar, railway officials confirmed.
The train service was suspended from March 11 after a terrorist attack in Kachi’s Mach area. Railway officials have now restored operations with increased security measures.
According to the Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railways, extensive security arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of passengers and employees during the visit.
The train departed from Quetta railway station at around 9 am and it is expected to complete its route to Peshawar according to the schedule.
On March 11, the train was abducted by militants of the illegal Balochistan Liberation Army in Balochistan. More than 400 passengers were taken hostage, who were recovered after the commando operation by the Pakistan Army.
The army said after cleaning the train and saving the hostages, it killed 33 attackers. Before the operation started, 26 passengers were martyred by the terrorists, while four security personnel were martyred during the operation.
Meanwhile, sources have revealed that four suspected facilities of the terrorist attack on the Jaffer Express were arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Department (CTD).
