The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has warned about the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, stating that nearly two million people – most of whom are displaced – are currently living without any source of income, and are completely dependent on humanitarian aids to meet their basic food needs, the Palestinian news agency is a report.
In a series of statements released in the last few hours, WFP raised alarm on the increasing threat to the population of hundreds of thousands of Gaza. The program expressed serious concern over a sharp decline in food shares, warning that the region is on the verge of a possible human havoc.
The WFP emphasized that this important situation is complicated by the ongoing closure of the Israeli border, which is preventing the distribution of important food supply to the adjacent enclaves. According to the agency, Gaza requires a uninterrupted and constant flow of food to avoid complete collapse of food security in the region.
