Rajasthan Royals on Thursday shocked the expectations of maintaining their IPL 2025 playoff prospects, when Ryan Parag -led side faced another poor defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The 11 -run defeat was a third gradual match, where Rajasthan hit a winning position in the event of a chase to hand over the game to the opposition. The second defeat of RCB in this season meant that Rajasthan has now lost five matches in succession and a total of seven defeats in nine matches, hiring them on the verge of elimination.
The five-match defeat is the longest for Royals since the 2009-10 sessions.
RR IPL 2025 playoff qualification scenario
While they are mathematically alive in the race, the lifeline of Rajasthan can extinguish at any time in the league. With only five matches remaining, it is a non-oblique that RR will need to win all matches to keep their unconscious opportunities alive. Rajasthan can only deposit the best 14 points from here. However, this time it is unlikely to be enough to make a playoffs, at least six teams in a dispute to overhall that mark. Gujarat Titans, RCB and Delhi Capital require only two wins to cross the 14-point mark from their remaining games, and Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings and Lucknow super veterans need three appearances. Kolkata Knight Riders can also target 16-point marks with four wins in their remaining eight matches, which can further drop the possibility of RR’s merit.
