something to look forward to: Face ID has long been an integral part of the iPhone, but it requires a large -scale dynamic island at the top of the performance. While this design is a significant improvement at the notch, it still appears older than the modern smartphone. Apple is now allegedly planning to refine the design by launching under-display face ID.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the future iPhone Pro model will be likely under-display face ID within the next few years. As part of this infection, Apple allegedly planned to move the “some components” of the dynamic island under the screen, which aligns with its goal of reducing the size of the feature and giving “uninterrupted screen”.
Gurman did not provide a specific timeline for the rollout, but indicated that the change could come in 2026 or early 2027. If accurate, it means that the iPhone 18 Pro or the iPhone 19 Pro can be the first model to adopt a re -designed display.
Rumors of iPhones, characterized by under-display facial recognition, have been broadcast for many years, it has been suggested from various sources that Apple is working on convenience for future models. In 2022, TF Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that a full-screen iPhone could become a reality by 2024. However, this much awaited design refresh is yet to be physically made physical.
In May 2024, the famous display analyst Ross Young reported that the full-screen iPhone was delayed by 2026. While there has been very little new information on this subject since then, the latest reports show that the iPhone Pro models can soon adopt much awaited change, bring full-screen display with punch-hole camera cutouts. Whether it should be physically physical, the change flagship iPhones looks like their Android counterparts.
Additionally, Gurman claims that Apple initially planned to introduce a rumor port-cum iPhone design with the iPhone 17 Air later this year. However, the company abandoned the idea citing regulatory concerns in the European Union, which suggests that all mobile devices use USB-C connectors. Despite this shock, if the iPhone proves to be 17 hits, Apple can still launch a port-less iPhone in the near future.
