    Naval celebrated her climb at the top of the ranking with a commanding win in the Indian Open at Bombay Gymkhana on Tuesday. Joshna Chinappa, Akansha Salunke and Veer Chotrani also proceeded in the third round of the Indian Open Squash tournament with an impressive win in Mumbai.

    The 17-year-old Anahat beat Spain’s Christina Gomez with 3–1 (11–5, 9–11, 11–5, 11-2) with 30 minutes.

    Fifth seed Chinappa got better than Sophia Metos from Spain as it emerged in just 20 minutes, with a score of 3–0 (11–1, 11–7, 11-8).

    Salunke also opened his campaign with a victory on Tanvi Khanna 3–1 (6-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-4). Meanwhile, the fifth seeded Joshna Chinappa also had a good day in the court, as she had come to the past from her opponent. Chinappa, who was playing the role of Sophia Metos from Spain, displayed immense control and accuracy in his game, and won in 20 minutes, (3–0) with a scorline of 11–1, 11–7, 11-8. Top seed Akananka Salunke also opened its campaign with a win. She was against Tanvi Khanna and performed brilliantly to win with the scorline 3–1 (6–11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-4) in 39 minutes.

    In the men’s draw, Veer Chaukrani of India, who won the morale on day 1, continued with his good form, and was very upset before the tournament.

    One of the young guns in the stable of JSW, Chotrani, was put in a spectacular performance, which was packed with strength and determination on its way for 3–1 (11-4, 10-12, 16-14, 11-6).

    Sixth seeded Abhay Singh showed a good form against the Melvil Scianimnico from France, won 3–0 (11–5, 11–8, 11-7), and booked his birth in the next round.

    However, the day of India’s men’s number 1 Ramit Tandon was tough as he lost against Amishenraj Chandran of Malaysia (5-11, 1-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-6)
