Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials arrested a student of another Columbia University, who participated in anti -Palestinian protests, a third student opted to deport himself from America
Leka Cordia, who is from West Bank, canceled her visa in 2022 in “lack of appearance”, and was detained by the agency for old visas. Cordia was first arrested for her role in protests in April.
“This is a privilege to live in the United States and give visas to study,” Homeland’s Security Secretary Christian Nom said in a statement.

“When you advocate violence and terrorism, that privilege should be canceled, and you should not be in this country. I was happy to see one of the terrorist sympathizers of Columbia University for the use of CBP home app for self-discomfort.”
Mahmud Khalil, who recently graduated from the university in New York City, is in snow custody for his role in protests. However, it did some backlash from students, and faculty and even attracted attention to the American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU).

The ACLU website states, “To be clear: The first amendment does not allow the government to retaliate against anyone for its speech. Stopping someone from their home, separating them from their immigration status, and taking them into custody on the basis of a completely political approach is a clear attempt by President Trump, a clear effort for silent dissatisfaction,” ACLU website. “And it is clearly unconstitutional. Political speech – although some controversial can find it – the punishment can never be the basis of punishment with exile.”
