Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan recently made their debut in the film industry with Nadaniyan, which was with the previousflix romantic drama, acting with Khushi Kapoor.
Despite the lukewarm reception of the film, Ibrahim received a wave of support from his fans. However, his attempt to highlight the film’s IMDB rating on social media has resulted in significant online backlash.
Ibrahim shared a fan’s Instagram story, with a screenshot of the film’s IMDB rating. Screenshot displayed a 4.5/10 rating for Nadaniyan, but claimed that “about 75% gave it 10 stars on IMDB.”
The fan abandoned a low rating below 6/10, causing misleading representation of the film’s reception. This selective editing did not pay any attention, and social media users quickly indicated irony.

While Ibrahim Ali Khan shared the story again on his Instagram, the post was removed soon. However, it appears on the page of the fan under the highlight titled ‘Ibrahim seen’.
Again the post provoked immediate trolling, as many Reddit and Twitter users questioned why it would celebrate such a rare overall imDB rating. A user wrote, “If 75% gave it 10, how is the rating 4.5?” While another commented, “4.5 How did a high rating on that app become?”

The IMDB rating process, which is based on a weighted mean system, takes into account the value of votes from various users, which means that all votes are not treated equally.
Although the confusion caused by the re -sharing posts further ridiculed online, some users made fun of Ibrahim to see the film’s bad overall score. A comment clearly asked, “These ekadum dumb that kya jo 4.5 pe khush ho raha hai?” (“Is he stupid to be happy with 4.5 ratings?”).
The film Nadaniyan, including Sunil Shetty, Mahima Chaudhary, Dia Mirza and Jugal Hansraj, was released on 7 March 2025, and immediately met with negative reviews.
Critics and spectators equally slammed the film’s story and performance. Despite its reception, the film has argued about the promotion of Star-Kids in Bollywood.
Ibrahim’s performance in the film was specially criticized, but her sister, actress Sara Ali Khan, came to her defense. Sara took the ranking of the film on Netflix on Instagram and took the stories on Instagram, where Nadaniyan finished number 1 in the ‘Top 10 Movies in India’ list.
She shared her support for her brother, saying that despite the important backlash, the film was still performing well on the streaming platform.
Despite his family support, the film was welcomed less than the stellar. The film is currently a 4.8/10 ratings on IMDB and just 18% on rotten tomatoes, further highlighting the disconnect between its viewership ranking and significant reception.
Amidst all this, Ibrahim Ali Khan focuses on his next project, diller, hoping to leave the dispute around his first performance.
