A distressed bride canceled her marriage after a drunk groom took the wrong woman – thrice.
The incident in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh got into anarchy, when the groom accidentally put a male friend and then an elderly guest formal garland around the bride’s best friend before proceeding to the garland.
This was followed by a slap, a dispute, a sudden end of marriage, and the last arrest of the groom, The Times of India Informed
26 -year -old Ravindra Kumar arrived late at his wedding in Novwa Bhagwantpur village in Bareilly district on Saturday evening. He was allegedly drinking alcohol with his friends before the ceremony.
He was due to participating in Garland’s ritual, a tradition in Hindu weddings where the couple symbolizes their commitment to each other.
However, Mr. Kumar accidentally placed a wreath around the bride’s best friend instead. Realizing his mistake, Mr. Kumar removed it, only one male friend and then to put on an elderly guest, left the attendees in shocking silence.
Tamasha, bride, Radha Devi, 21, slapped Mr. Kumar and canceled the marriage. This inspired a dispute between the two families, in which chairs were surrounded before police intervention.
The bride’s family later filed a police complaint, alleging that Mr. Kumar’s family had already demanded additional dowry despite taking Rs450,000 (£ 4000).
Omkar Verma, brother of Ms. Devi, said that the groom’s family could orkstrate the play to humiliate her. He also alleged that Mr. Kumar had misrepresented his profession, claiming to be a farmer when he was actually a truck driver.
By 4 am, Mr. Kumar and his friends were in police custody. A medical test confirmed that he was intoxicated, and a case was registered against him under India’s anti -doors. A person was also arrested on suspicion of supply of illegal liquor.
