Fire is common in India, where builders and residents often build laws and security codes. Activists say the builders often cut the corners on security to save the cost and have accused the civil officials of negligence and apathy.
In 2022, at least 27 people were killed when a four -storey commercial building in New Delhi, however, caught fire on a large scale.
