Punjab Kings are on a role in the Indian Premier League after winning two from their first two IPL 2025 matches. The team has been credited to the team’s change-Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who was appointed as a coach on a four-year contract as a four-year contract under the Trevor Intelligence.
Players like Nehal Wadhera and Prabhasimran Singh credited Ponting for his impact on his form this season. While Wadira scored an unbeaten 43 runs, Prabasimran posted 69, so that Punjab Kings left the target of 172 with eight wickets and left eight wickets in hand and 22 delivery on Tuesday.
After the game, both players praised the former Australian captain who won the World Cup.
“He is one of the best coaches with whom I have ever worked,” said Wadera, who was chased by Ponting as an impact player against the Lucknow super veterans. “I have never heard of anything negative from him and this is the best thing about him. He talks positively, and when a coach gives you such a positive comment, it automatically increases your confidence.”

Prabhasimran credited Ponting and their employees to increase a winning mentality in the Punjab organization.
“They are legends,” he said. “Whenever they speak, it is always positive.” If “(in their thinking) there is no such thing. They just ask us to go with a mindset, and it is to win. They have asked us to return their game.”
With two wins in two matches, Punjab Kings find themselves in second place in the IPL rankings. Shreyas Iyer and the company took Rajasthan Royals in ninth place on Saturday.
