The video captured the heroic rescue of a Tenasi State Tripper during the flood of Hurricane Helen, when he was rescued and went straight back to work to help another trapped person.
The Jason Pack, a retired FBI Special Agent and Director of Communications for Tennessi Department of Safety and Homeland Security, is shared with Fox News Digital, which was shared with Hannah Smathers, the bravery of bravery displayed during the Hurricane Helen disaster.
Pack said Smatters was finishing a crash report from the previous shift when the dispatch received a call to assist in the investigation of flood-prone roadways.
During an interview on the “Hurricane Helen Heroes” series, Smthers said, “I was actually in the office, completing an accident report since the previous day, when we received a call to assist Unicoi with the investigation of the roadway for floods,” Smathers recalled during an interview on the “Hurricane Helen Heroes” series. “It is a very common thing when bad weather occurs. They wanted me to check Spive Mountain Road, so I went out. It did not take long to reach there.”

While the situation looked manageable initially, Smathers said they quickly changed.
“I was watching it for the first time,” she said. “Creek was starting to rise and was quickly moving on the road.”
But as Hurricane Helen flooded vehicles raised around his patrol vehicle, Pack said that smoators did not panic.
Pack shared, “She radio in radio, waited for help, and once she was safe, she went back to work,” Pack shared.
Pack said that after helping the two pedestrians get out of the area, the smathers were trapped by increasing water and offered help to a trapped driver. However, after minutes, Pack said she realized that she could not get out.

“There was no way and there was no way behind,” Smathers remembered. “I called it and waited.”
The water rescue team removed their ballistic vest and duty belt and threw it a rope to get it out of their stranded vehicle.
“I had to take off my vest, my belt – everything,” said Smathers. “They threw me a lifejacket and a rope. But there was no harness. If I let that rope go, I was going with water.”
The smathers pulled out of their car and within seconds, the current drove her feet out of her.
“Second I went away from my car, my feet were swept away from me,” he said. “I went under the water, but I held it on a rope. It was my only chance.”

Once when smathers used to collect themselves and were safe, she quickly jumped back into action, soaked and covered in mud.
“Once I got out, I noticed that another driver broke his ankle,” Smathers explained. “So I helped him take him into security as well.”
Smatters remained on the shift for the next 18 hours, despite being stuck first and still dirty from his defense, saying that he did so “because it is what we do.”
“The thing I passed by was nothing compared to some people that day,” Smathers said.
“I know that sometimes it seems clich when people say they just want to help others,” he continued. “But this is really what this work is. Helping people. To ensure that they are safe. All this I was trying to do that day.”
Colonel Matt Perry of Tennessee Highway Petrol said that his works represent all the soldiers that day.
Perry said, “Topper smathers showed what we expect from highway petrol trouperse – a heart for calm and service under pressure,” Perry said. “He did not pay attention. He just worked.”
The Tennessi Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Jeff Long also praised Smatters and said “His work is a reflection of what our soldiers do every day, often without recognition.”
Long said, “What the tropper smathers did that day understood the soldiers of our state as dedication to their communities.” “He showed courage, humility and heart. Whether in the flood, an accident scene, or a regular patrol, our soldiers make Tennessy safe every day.”

Hurricane Helen suffered billions of dollars losses on destroying important infrastructure such as homes, fields and roads, bridges and power lines. Parts of highways connecting northern Carolina And Tenasi Has been closed since the end of September.
More than 100 people died as a result of the storm in North Carolina alone, and the total death count in six states including South Carolina, Tennessi, Virginia, Georgia and Florida is more than 230.
