The New Zealand’s leading T20I series against Pakistan has inspired many of its players for the latest ICC men’s T20I player rankings, with the biggest impact of Jacob Dafi.
Dafi continued his meteorite growth in the bowling chart, climbing seven more places to break into the top five. Now ranked fifth with 694 rating points, Pesar had already increased in the previous update at 23 places.
His continuous performance – cutting 11 wickets in four matches – strengthened his place among the best of the format.
For Pakistan, Haris Rauf jumped 11 spots (632 rating points) in the last two matches after impressive figures of 3/27 and 3/29.
Fellow Pesar Abbas Afridi also finished eight places, which is now 36th.
On the batting front, Australia’s Travis Head remains the number 1 rank ahead of India’s Abhishek Sharma and England’s Phil Salt.
However, the largest proponent was Mark Chapman of New Zealand, which climbed 41st (547 rating points) at 10 places after a stunning 94 off 44 balls, with a quick 24-rorn knock.
Interestingly, both Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan maintained their ranking despite snatching the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand.
In the all-rounder rankings, Michael Bracewell increased the 12 spots to the 14th (141 rating points), with 46* 26 runs and a back-to-back impressive innings for 31 runs.
Meanwhile, Namibia’s leading 3–0 series victory in Canada in Windhok also reflected in the ranking.
Gerhard Erasmus ranked in the all -rounder Top 10 (164 rating points), while Nico Devin increased to 68th (450 rating points) at 27 places after half a century in the final match.
With further T20i action, further shakeup in the ranking is expected as players are affected on the global stage.
