According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the government has decided to maintain the prices of all petroleum products at its current levels for the next fortnight.

The price of petrol will be at Rs255.63 per liter, while the price of high-speed diesel will be Rs258.64 per liter. Additionally, kerosene will be available at Rs168.12 per liter, and during the same period the price of light diesel will be Rs 153.34 per liter.

These prices will be applicable on March 16, 2025.

Earlier, reports suggested that the government, depending on the estimates of oil marketing companies (OMCs), after global oil prices and premium reduction, the prices of petroleum products are Rs. 14.16 per liter can be reduced.

However, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif opted to maintain the current prices, directed to transfer full financial benefits to the public through reduction in electricity rates.

In a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, Shahbaz Sharif confirmed that the government would keep the prices of petroleum products unchanged, preparing to provide significant relief to the public by reducing electricity rates.

He said that the decision to maintain petroleum prices was part of a comprehensive strategy to help consumers by making electricity more economical.

Prime Minister Sharif revealed that a comprehensive plan to reduce electricity rates was in the final stages of preparation, which was expected to announce an announcement in the coming weeks.

He reported that the financial space created by ups and downs in global oil prices will allow the government to provide adequate relief through low prices of electricity jointly with other measures.

Premier reiterated their commitment to prioritize public relief, saying that this initiative will not only reduce power prices, but will have a positive impact on overall inflation, which will contribute to further price reduction.
