Krishnan said to TOI here here on Thursday, “We have received extensive inputs on the rules. We have to analyze them, consider various elements, go back and consult other departments, and make other necessary changes before finalizing them.

Even when India’s data law takes size, the government is taking steps to face challenges related to regulating online material in an era where digital platforms have immense impact. Krishnan was uneven about the legal structure in the place.
He said, “India today has laws where we can block material if really necessary. Section 69A of the IT Act gives us the powers. If the material violates other laws, but does not come within 69A, the provisions under Section 79 can be implemented,” he said. Beyond the regulation, the ministry is keeping a close watch on the intersection of AI and cyber security. If you ask me what I keep at night, this is cyber security. You never know what will happen,” he said.
