New Delhi: 30 tonnes consignment GI-tagged jaggery The neighboring Bangladesh has been sent from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh to Bangladesh, in an official statement on Saturday. Muzaffarnagar is famous for its high quality sugarcane. The jaggery built here and in Shamli is in high demand in global markets.
GI is an agriculture, natural or a manufactured product from a certain geographical area. “This initiative marks the onset of direct export of jaggery from western to Bangladesh Farmer producing organization (FPOS) and farmer manufacturer companies (FPCs), “have been stated in the statement of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Brijnandan agro farmer manufacturer company (FPC), formed in 2023, there are 545 members, including two female directors. FPO is engaged in export of jaggery, sugarcane products, basmati rice and pulses.
The statement stated that with the support of Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), it marks the third success story of FPO, one from Western ups in agricultural exports, Neer Adarsh Organic farmer manufacturer after exporting basmati rice to Lebanon and Oman. It is the only FPO to get financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh under the state’s agricultural policy.
Anthurium flower sent to Singapore from Isol
In another important step towards increasing the floriculture export capacity of the country, especially the North Eastern Region, from APEDA, in collaboration with the Horticulture Department, and the Mizoram government, sent the first consignment of anthurium flowers from Aizawal to Singapore. The consignment containing 1,024 anthurium cut flowers (weighing 70 kg) packed in 50 corrugated boxes was exported by Izawal to Singapore via Kolkata.
An official statement stated that the flowers were obtained from the ZO Anthrium Grocers Cooperative Society, and was imported by Veg Pro Singapore PTE Limited, a milestone in the region’s Fluorical Export Travel. Anthurium is one of the most important flowers cultivated in Mizoram, which plays an important role in running local economic activity, especially benefits to farmers, including women.
