The funeral prayer for the mother of the Army Chief of Army Staff (Coas) General Asim Munir was awarded at the Race Course Ground in Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The army chief himself led the last rites prayer.
Top officials and political leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, ruling PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarafraj Bugti and Internal Minister Mohsin Nakvi, who attended the funeral prayer.
Additionally, Senate President Syed Yusuf Raza Gilni, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, top military officer, former Army Chief General (Rated) Qamar Javed Bajwa, General (Retad) Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, and other notes also offered funeral prayers.
Earlier, President Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz expressed deep grief, offered prayers for the departed soul and supported the grieved family.
President Zardari said in his condolence message that he shared the grief of General Munir and his family equally.
Internal Minister Naqvi also expressed her condolences, then prayed for the height of the deceased and patience for the bereaved family.
Rana Sanaullah, advisor to the Prime Minister on political matters, expressed deep sadness, prayed for divine mercy on the departed soul and patience for the grieved family.
