France produced a stunning assault performance to overturn the two-meal deficit against Croatia and level its Rashtra League tie on Sunday, but the keeper was Mike Magnon, who stole the spotlight with his penalty heroines in a 5–4 shootout win.
MAIGNAN made two savings and saw that a Croatian attempt became the only French keeper to win two shootouts, to maintain his impressive record on punishment with France to fly on the bar.
“We know that with Mike, we start a shootout with an advantage. He makes a difference,” said Captain Kylian Mabappa.
Maiignan was on the bench when France lost to the penalty to Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final, Keeper Hugo Loris was unable to save in the shootout.
Sunday’s game was a breath of fresh air for Maiignan, which has recently struggled with Milan.
“The target is big, so the first thing is to take as much space as possible on the line,” AC Milan Golki said. “Then this is a psychological battle with the shooter, you have to go into their heads.”
France faced Spain, which passed through a penalty against the Netherlands on Sunday at the Rashtriya League semi -finals at Stutgart on 5 June.
In the other semi -finals of a juicy final four, Germany will face Portugal.
