Many phone manufacturers release a new folding (or non-folding) phone every year, with some small tweets and upgrade on the previous generation. The target is not to upgrade customers with each new repetition but not to encourage upgrade from users of two or three generations old tools to upgrade to the latest hardware.
It is mostly phone manufacturer, but Oppo has taken a completely different view for folding phones. Oppo Find N3 was launched in October 2023, and last month, Oppo announced its successor, Oppo Find N5. It should have been launched in the US as OnePlus Open 2, but both companies selected to scrap the planned launch, handed over the US market to their main competitors, Samsung and Google.
Despite its limited release, the Oppo Find N5 represents an important step forward for the best folding phone and has many features that should adopt every folding phone. here’s why.
Form Factor, Design & Build
One of the largest tech -offs from My Oppo Find N5 review is that it has essentially correct form factor, design and build. I am sitting on a train typing it on the front screen and constantly reminds how correct this design is: Folding phones have reached the peak of the book-style folding form factor.
It is 4.21 mm thick when it surfaced and 8.78 mm when folded, which seeks Oppo to the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the iPhone 16 Pro Max below 1 mm thick than 1 mm thick. This is the first time a folding phone can be easily done wrong for a non-folding phone, and I have often accidentally discovered N5 from a pocket instead of iPhone.
If the phone is not incredibly light, then most of it does not matter. At 229 grams, it is 10 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z fold 6, but the difference in size means that it sounds light because the weight spreads on a broad surface. It is quite thin at 1.5 mm when the revelation is revealed and bent more than 3 mm, providing a clear difference between the two devices. Ultra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition proves that Samsung can make a very thin device, so I hope we will see improvement in Galaxy Z Fold 7.
Google Pixel 9 Pro is very close to Fold Find N5, but there are still design signs that can learn Google. First, the Pixel 9 Pro fold is 0.9 mm thick (and 1.6 mm folded), giving Google opportunities to thin further down. It is also 28 grams of heavy, and it is an area that needs to improve Google because the Pixel 9 Pro fold is much less comfortable compared to Oppo Find N5 in daily use.
Big performance with double screen stylus support
One reason is that the N5 looks so comfortable that its size is similar to a regular phone. The Oppo Find N5 has a 6.62 -inch cover display that opens on the main display of 8.12 inch. Both displays are the largest in any folding phone, and in many ways, the front display is the perfect size for folding phones.
The cover display is rich and lively, and has many features, including 1–120Hz dynamic refresh rate, ultrahar image and HDR vivid support and peak brightness of 2,450 NITs. It is similar in size and is the same as features for a 6.58-inch display on Oppo Find X8, but significantly, it is not a major compromise as other folding phones.
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Pixel 9 Pro fold feature 6.3-inch main display, which matches the average smartphone screen size, but wants large displays. Yes, you can unfollow the display, but it is not as convenient as a major main display. Unlike the Galaxy Z fold 6, the Find N5 supports stylus input on both displays.
Most folding phones begin with the main display and work backwards for the cover display, but the Find N5 took the opposite approach. Instead of focusing only the main performance, Oppo carefully considered the front display experience; As a result, the cover display is unrelated to a flagship non-folding smartphone in size, features or aspect ratio.
Big silicone carbon battery and fast charging
The Oppo Find N5 also has the biggest battery of any folding phone and the fastest charging. It is obtained using silicon carbon technology, which provides 40% more density than the lithium-ion technology used in most phones.
The 5,600 mAh battery is 27% larger than the Galaxy Z fold 6 (4,400 mAh) and 20% larger than a 4,650 mAh battery in the Pixel 9 Pro fold. The honor is 9% larger than a 5,150 mAh battery found in Magic V3, which also uses silicon carbon technology and was the last folding phone in the world. Combined with excellent software, large battery provides excellent multi-day battery life.
Like every Oppo phone, Find N5 also has superfast charging, whether wired or wireless, and results. Thanks to 80W charging, you can charge empty from vacant in 7 minutes, 50% in 20 minutes and 80% in 35 minutes.
Standling charging against the competition, N5 accuses 112 mAh per minute, much faster than some of the competition. The nearest honor is the magic V3, which is slightly slow at 109 mAh/min, but the Galaxy Z fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Folds are quite slow on 51 mAh and 48 mAh respectively.
Open canvas multitasking
Before using Oppo Find N5, my Go-to folding phone was often the OnePlus Open, based on Oppo’s previous folding phone, Find N3. Find N5 means launching as OnePlus Open 2, but until it will, it is the best part of the OnePlus folding phone experience.
Open Canvas and Oppo Find N3 launched with OnePlus Open was unavailable. This is for multitasking on the large screen north of OnePlus and Oppo, and it is an important addition to Find N5 experience. This is also the best multitasking on any smartphone, none.

Two divided windows and under a large expanded window
Most Android phones allow you to run three apps to side-by-side and divide the screen into sections to achieve it. This also means that the app window can be small and narrow or does not provide enough space to cover the entire viewport.
Open canvas re -opened the phone as several screens and allows you to swipe between different apps, shape them and imagine them all in one approach. It is so good that Android should include facility by default on all phones.
Some areas of opportunity for rivals
My Oppo Find N5 reviews had only a few negatives, including ultravide camera. While wide and telephoto cameras are impressive, ultravide camera seems to be one later. Nevertheless, as an entire camera system, it is still better than the competition.
In particular, Oppo finds N5 takes great pictures at the length of the zoom for a long time, which means that it has a camera system with many flagship non-altra phones. Yes.

The Find N5-core uses 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which sacrifices a performance core for better heat management and battery life. I consider this tradeoff to be meaningful, especially given excellent battery life, but it is another area that will essentially see improvement.
In many ways, the Find N5 represents the ideal folding phone design, and it is difficult to see how you can improve on factors such as size, thickness and durability, especially when Oppo had to build a custom USB-C port to fit a thin profile. Similarly, battery, charging, and displays represent further stages for folding phones.
Oppo Find N5 is the best folding phone right now, but most people cannot buy it because it is only being released in some markets. The real question is whether the contestants adopt the same design, size, performance and improvement in battery life, but also improve cameras and availability.
