- The PM asked Ulema to play a role in controlling terrorism.

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday that a major objective of terrorists is to prevent Pakistan from taking advantage of its huge natural resources.
He said, “Pakistan was blessed with trillion dollars natural resources … Foreign elements who are providing financial assistance to terrorists do not even want Pakistan to benefit from their mineral resources,” he said that while addressing the ceremony of “Rab-e-Zulal’s Ehsan-Pakistan” in Islamabad.
Since returning to power in Afghanistan in 2021, the country has been increasing terrorist attacks targeting the promoters of law and security forces, especially in the border provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
According to data released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICS), a think tank, Pakistan saw a sharp increase in terrorist attacks in January 2025, increased by 42% compared to the previous month.
KP remained the worst affected province, followed by Balochistan. In the districts of KP, militants carried out 27 attacks, resulting in 19 deadly individuals, including 11 security personnel, six civilians and two terrorists.
Addressing the function, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan’s security forces were sacrificing their lives in war against terrorism to secure the future of the country.
He said, “The coming generations will not be forgiven if Ekta was not displayed to overcome the danger of terrorism, and Ulema would have to play an important role in this regard,” he said.
Premier said that Pakistan can pay its debt by exploiting its mineral resources to secure its lost position in the world.
PM Shahbaz also said that it was a need for that hour who show unity and harmony to solve the issues that have come to Pakistan.
He said, “It was the responsibility of people from all areas of life to come forward to solve economic and social issues and helped to end the danger of terrorism,” he said.
He further said that Ulema should take responsibility for promoting unity and brotherhood in society, saying that everyone should rise above communal differences and give priority to national issues on their personal desires.
PM Shahbaz said that Ramadan was a very important month as Pakistan was built as the only ideological Islamic state in this month.
He said the world powers were against the spread of nuclear weapons, but despite all obstacles, in 1998, Pakistan became an atomic power, and due to the nuclear capacity and brave armed forces, no enemy could take a bad eye towards the country.
Shahbaz said that Quaid-e-Azam wanted a Pakistan where Muslims and minorities enjoyed religious freedom and minorities were protected.
He said, “If we follow the teachings of the Holy Quran and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and our great leaders, we can achieve our proper position in the world.”
He thought that without economic progress, political freedom could not be achieved.
The premiere said it was the responsibility of the state to enable citizens to live their lives according to Islam, there is no law that cannot be contrary to the teachings of Islam.
He vowed to provide all financial resources to the youth to equip modern technology and skills and said that the PM youth program was designed to provide education and job opportunities to the youth.
He also advised the youth to follow discipline in their lives and live up to the expectations of the nation.
The Prime Minister appealed to Ulema to promote positive thinking and research habit to prevent the spread of fake news and malicious publicity.
