North Korea said that the foreign elite runner had arrived to attend the Pyongyang marathon on Sunday for six years on Sunday, but he did not immediately confirm that the race took place.
The marathon, which was being run on Sunday, is part of the ceremonies marking the birth of North Korea’s founding leader Kim Il Sung in 1912.
The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Sunday, “Marathon of China, Romania, Morocco and Ethiopia arrived here to participate in the 31st Pyongyang International Marathon on 3 and 5 April,”
The marathon is the largest international sports program in the repetition country. The race provides a rare opportunity to run the visitors tightly through the roads of the capital.
The images posted on Instagram account of Simon Cockerel, General Manager, Korio Tours, gathered to see the citizens of Pyongyang to see Pyongyang’s citizens.
Cockerel wrote, “Some pictures of today’s Pyongyang marathon in North Korea. There is no wonderful incident and no race.”
An image showed foreign participants taking pictures on the phone around Kim Il Sung Stadium filled with North Korean audience.
The final edition of the Pyongyang Marathon was held before the epidemic in 2019, during which the atomic-headed state sealed its boundaries in an attempt to include the virus.
Foreign participants are currently in the capital on a six-day visit organized by the Beijing-based travel agency Korio Tours, describing themselves as an exclusive travel partner of the marathon.
Beijing -based firm said on its website, “Pyongyang Marathon is a very unique experience because it offers an opportunity to interact with the locals.” “An experience is really like no other.”
The marathon is listed on the website of Global Governing Body World Athletics.
In 2019, around 950 Western people participated in the race, above about 450 last year. About 180 foreigners were expected to participate this year.
