Oded Lifshitz was 83 years old, when he burst from his home in Kibutz Neer Oz with his wife, Yecheved during Hamas attacks against Israel on 7, 2023. Yochweed lived for Israel in October 2023 and advocated the release of other hostages. On 20 February 2025, Oded returned to Israel in a coffin. However, his family has not given up hope for those living in Gaza.
The grandson of Daniel Lifeshitz, Oded and Yokaved, told Fox News Digital that, while hostage hostages brought some light back to Kibutz Neer Oz, nothing can really be done until all the hostages are returned. As at the time of this writing, the 13 hostages taken from Neer Oz are still in Gaza, and not all of them are alive.

While talking to Fox News Digital, Daniel described his late grandfather as a “warrior of peace”, stating that Oded in four wars, he also fought for the rights of minorities.
Oded and Yokaved were peace activists who helped Gaza to Palestinian pediatric cancer patients, who crossed in Israel for chemotherapy. According to the Times of Israel’s translation, Yoliies discussed her activism at her husband’s funeral and said “he had” collided with a terrible attack by those that we had helped on the other side “.
Daniel explained that her grandmother felt betrayed by the Palestinian citizens, not by Hamas or Islamic Jihad, which she and her husband had helped for years.
Daniel said, “After 7 October, he did not do so – we did not see the Palestinians to protest against Hamas, to protest for the release of the hostages, who they knew that they would leave all the mortgages, it would also end the war,” Daniel told Fox News Digital. “And they need to show that they do not want humas, and this is where my grandmother she really feels very betrayed because for whom we try for.”

The body of Oded returned with Ariel and Kefir Bibas. The boys’ mother, Shiri Bibas, was scheduled to be held in the fourth coffin, but when the coffin arrived in Israel, she had no remains. His body returned two days later.
Daniel told Fox News Digital, “… his return is a symbol of the failure of the international community for me because a 9 -month -old child came to those cars, the only child was held hostage with an 83 -year -old great -grandfather in the world, the only great -grandfather health hostage world.”

Asked about the difference between the Biden administration and the Trump administration dealing with the situation, Daniel told Fox News Digital that Trump’s team is “more creative”.
Daniel told Fox News Digital, “If one thing does not work, they are not released. They try to bring another solution,” Daniel told Fox News Digital.
In front of the tragedy, the Lifashitz family has refused to give up hope that the remaining hostages, survival and dead, would one day return home to Israel. Daniel also hopes that her grandmother will be able to rest once, when she realizes that hostages are home.
