The European Southern Observatory (ESO) stated that its own technical analysis has revealed ‘dangerous’ results for telescopes that make parts of its Parelon Observatory from a green energy project for the Atakama desert.
Europe’s ESO Astrophysics Agency said on Monday that a huge green energy project for Chile’s Atakama desert, which would spoil its approach to stars and its science mission would be threatened.
AES Andes, a subsidiary of US Energy Company AES Corporation, has proposed to manufacture 3,000 hectares (7,400 acres) projects in the desert to generate solar and wind energy and green hydrogen.
The $ 10 billion INNA project, Chile’s part of the plan to become carbon neutral, is still subject to an environmental impact assessment.
On Monday, the European Southern Observatory (ESO) stated that its own technical analysis has revealed “dangerous” results for telescopes that are part of its paranal observatory.
“The effect is destructive, irreversible, and if the project intends to build, it is destructive, irreversible, and it cannot be reduced, ESO Chile’s representative Itzir D Gregorio-Monsalvo told reporters in Santiago.
According to the ESO, the binoculars examine the planets and galaxies like the Earth to create a better understanding of our universe, “and even monitor the asteroids, which can damage our planet,” according to the ESO.
The analysis found in INNA will increase light pollution above very large binoculars (VLT) “up to at least 35%.”
According to the agency, VLT began working with ESO investment of 330 million euros (about $ 360 million) in 1999.
The ESO stated that in a very large binoculars of its stadium size, in 2029, there would be a 5%increase in light pollution to introduce scientific comments with a budget of 1.45 billion euros-“A level of inconsistent intervention with the conditions required for world-class astronomical comments, a level of inconsistent intervention,” the ESO said.
An ESO statement said that atmospheric disturbance, ground vibration and dust contamination will also cause damage.
The AES Andes has stated that the INNA project will suit Skygl to conform to “the highest criteria in terms of light”, including a Chile rule to protect astronomy sites from Skyglo.
It has also been said that this project will be away from the telescopes mentioned by ESO.
The agency said that it would submit a complete technical report to Chile officials this month to consider in the environmental impact assessment.
