Eid al-Fitr 2025 in India: Eid ul-Fitr, also known as Eid-al-Fitr, is one of the largest festivals for the Muslim community. The day marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan – during which Muslims fast from dawn to evening, engage in charity and pray regularly. It is celebrated on the first day of the tenth month of the Islamic calendar.

The festival is celebrated with morning prayers, exchanging gifts, wearing new clothes, donating to the needy, spending time with family members and feasting on many traditional dishes.
As we celebrate Eid-al-Fitr on 31 March today, we have listed some traditional cuisine that will make your ceremonies additional memorable:
Eid recipes
Sheer khurma
Sheer Khurma is a creamy varmacelli pudding, the top with dates, dried fruits and saffron. This creamy treatment is nurtured in Muslim homes during the Eid festival.
- To prepare it, pistachio, almonds and raisins in ghee well.
- In another warm pan, redeem the vermiseli in ghee.
- Next, boil some milk in a wide pan until it becomes thick, add sugar and boil again.
- Add roasted vermiseli, dried fruits, date and saffron to milk.
- Mix it well and add cardamom powder to the top.
- Serve cold and garnish with dates.
Biryani
Talking about Eid, how can we forget this popular Mughal dish? Biryani, symbol of indulgence, features aromatic rice, which is layered with succulent meat and aromatic spices.
There is a wide variety of Biryani in India such as chicken Biryani, Hyderabadi Biryani, Kolkata Biryani, Awadhi Mutton Biryani, Kema Biryani, Malabar Fish Biryani and more.
- Cut the chicken/mutton into small pieces and marinate it with curd with some spices and ginger garlic paste. Let it rest for a few hours.
- Deep fry in a separate pan until they turn golden brown until they turn golden brown.
- Take the chicken and cook it in the pan until the color turns into light brown and then add milk.
- Boil some rice in another container until it is cooked 50 percent.
- Take a separate container and layer chicken and rice one by one and keep it up with some saffron milk.
- Keep the pot on low flame and wait till the rice is cooked.
- Serve warm with raita or salute.
Sevine
Sevaiyan Muslim homes have another dessert during the Eid festival. This is something without which no one can do and simply cannot be found enough.
- To make a sweet dish, start frying the vermiseli until it turns dark brown.
- Take it out and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Dried fruits and makhanas until it becomes crisp.
- Finally, add some coconut and be careful as it burns quickly.
- In a large pan, add sugar, lost, milk and water and mix well.
- Place it on the burner and shake it until it reaches the first abscess.
- Next, add roasted vermiseli, dried fruits, makhana coconut mixture, and boil on low for about 4-5 minutes before closing.
- Add some cardamom powder and cover the lid. Allow it to relax for a few minutes.
- Serve warm and garnish with dried fruits.
Rose sharbbat
A sweet and aromatic drink made from the natural essence of roses during Eid in Muslim homes. It has a delicate flower taste which is both fresh and comfort.
- To make this fresh drink, simply add taste and rose petals to sugar syrup and mix well.
- Now add the essence of milk and rose to the mixture.
- And you are all sets.
- To serve, fill the 1/4th of the cup with a rose mixture and fill the rest with cold water.
- Enjoy the refreshing drink.
Mutton shami kebab
The Eid Utsav is incomplete without these delicious, juicy and soft kebabs and Mutton Shami Kebab is the perfect choice for this year’s ceremony. With minced mutton, aromatic spices and herbs, these kebabs will definitely tentalize your taste buds.
- After heating some oil, add cinnamon stick, mace, cloves, bay leaves, green cardamom, black papercorn and brown cardamom. Mix them well.
- Next, add mutton minse, red chili powder and salt to the mixture and mix them well.
- Add some soaked gram dal to the kema and let it cook for some time.
- After cooking the mutton and lentils, grind the mixture and cool for 30 minutes until it becomes like a thick paste.
- Add some green chillies, onions and lime juice to the paste.
- Make small balls of the paste and cold for 30 minutes.
- In another pan, heat a large spoon of ghee and fry the kebabs lightly to golden brown on all sides.
- Serve them hot with green chutney.
