Drake’s Longtime Label Universal Music Group on Monday dismissed its defamation trial over the promotion of the Grammy-winner of Kendrick Lamar. Not like usThe biggest hit of the barrage of the dish track between the two wrappers.
In a filing in Manhattan Federal Court, UMG said the song Not like usWhich according to the Drake brand makes him a pedophile, only “rhetoric is hyperbole” and is protected by the first amendment of the US Constitution.
It also accused Drake of hypocrisy to sign a petition of June 2022, of criticizing the prosecutors using the works of the artists in criminal cases, and announced the products of the “Vision and Imagination” of the artists – only the songs of the artists have been branded as a literal fact.
“Drake was then right and now wrong,” Umg said. “Dise Tracks are a popular and famous artform centered around derogatory insults, and if the Drake’s suit is allowed to move forward they will be severely cooled.”

The song was released on 4 May a day after Drake family Matters Lamor appeared accusing him of physical abuse and infidelity and questioned the parents of one of his children.
In January 15 complaint, Drake, named Obre Drake Graham, said Not like us Threatened his safety, tried home break-in, and forced Canadian rapper to pull his seven-year-old son from school and Toronto region.
The lawsuit seeks loss of defamation and harassment.
Michael Gotlib, Drake’s lawyer, requested a “desperate trick” to avoid accountability of UMG’s dismissal.
Gotlib said in a statement, “We are confident that the matter will move forward and will continue to expose the long history of UMG to endanger and abuse its artists.”
Drake and Lamar, an American, who won the 2018 Pulitzer Award for music, quarreled for almost a decade.
Not like us Won Grammy Awards for Record and Song of the Year in February. In 2024, Billboard spent two weeks above the hot 100, and Lamor has another week at No.1 after performing it at the Super Bowl Halftime Show last month.
UMG called Drake’s trial “no more than Drake’s attempt to save his failed rap fight with Lamor.” Several commentators and fans also saw Lamor as the winner.
