After nearly three decades in the hull, Donatela Versace announced that she is stepping as a creative director of Versace, marking the end of an era for the prestigious Italian fashion house.
The announcement made on Thursday, concludes a 28 -year -long journey, in which Donatela not only carried forward the legacy of his late brother, Gianni Versace, but also became a global fashion icon in itself.
Donatella, 69, played the role of leading the luxury brand after the tragic murder of Giani Versace in 1997 outside her Miami Beach Haveli.
Despite having no formal background in fashion or design, she quickly became the face of the Versace brand, what is her vision and fierce dedication company today.
Through the years, Donatela made history with bold and unforgettable runways, which shows some of the most famous models in fashion, including Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford.
Donatella Versace in September 2017, along with Supermodels Carla Bruni Sarkozy, Claudia Shifar, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Croffard and Helena Christenson, ran his SS18.
The unforgettable glam of her platinum-gora hair and brand runway show became as a symbol of Versace as her gold, mythological logo.
Donatela wrote in an emotional Instagram post, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry forward my brother Jianni’s legacy.” “She was a true talent, but I hope I have some souls and tenacity.”
During her tenure, she was not only responsible for continuing the revolutionary vision of Jianni, but also to ensure that Versace was at the forefront of the fashion world.
Emmanuel Gintzberger, CEO of Versace and its core company Capri Holdings, spoke to the permanent effect of Donatela.
He said, “Versace is due to Donatela Versace today and the passion that brought it to his role every day for about thirty years.”
In a significant change for the brand, Dario Vitale has been appointed as the new Chief Creative Officer, which is first marked in the history of Verseches that the role is filled outside the family.
Vitale Prada, owned by Vitale Prada, who started his new role on 1 April, comes to Versace after a successful career, where he was a recent design and image director.
Their arrival comes when the luxury fashion world is estimated to have a $ 1.6 billion deal, which can acquire Versace with Capri Holdings to the Prada Group, allowing Vitale to be brought back to Prada Guna.
In another statement, Donatela shared a look back on some of his most prestigious moments with the brand.
He captioned the post, “I hope I have been proud of you so far.”
Looking forward, Donatela expressed his excitement for the coming time. “Making the next generation designers champion has always been important to me,” he said, thanking the company’s design studios and employees. “I am thrilled that Dario Vitale will join us, and will be excited to see Versace through new eyes.”
