After signing experienced Zach Wilson at the free agency, Miami on Saturday added another big name player in his quarterback room, selected Quinn Evers in Texas in the seventh round of NFL Draft.
Ewers Southelake (Texas) The country coming out of Carol was the number 2 overall recruitment. ESPN placed him as quarterbacks in seventh place in this year’s draft class, and he ended the 13th QB. Grier said that he and coach Mike McDaniel first met Evers at Pro Day in Texas in 2024 and was impressed after speaking with Longhorn coach Steve Sarkisian.
“Sir really likes him and was high on him, talking about playing through injuries this year – who impressed his game a bit,” Grier said. “But (Sarkisian) talked about his cruelty, pushed his mental cruelty with injury, hopes, all pressure (arc) coming there with Manning. He loved his competition and how he plays, and how his companions responded to him.
Evers threw 9,128 yards and 68 for touchdown against 24 interception in three sessions with Texas, completing 64.9% of his near. He finished his career as the all-time leader of Longhorn’s at the yard and passed after a record of 21-5 in the last two sessions and a consistent college football playoffs in the last two sessions at Touchdown Pass.
His 2024 season was influenced by a slanting tear and a high ankle sprain. He has said that he was perfectly healthy for just three matches in 2024 and a slanting injury started after the Michigan game in September. He missed the two matches and then faced an ankle injury against Kentki in November. For the last two sessions, he discontinued former Super Bowl winner quarter quarterbacks and Eli Manning’s nephew, prized recruitment Manning for Texas’s initial job.
Evers said that the pressure to stop a top recruitment while playing for one of the country’s most demanded programs helped them to strengthen them in a long time.
“I think it shows how mentally difficult I am,” the Evers said on Saturday. “I enjoy undergoing adverseness because I know that I have a plan to attack. Whatever happened in my previous college years, I knew that only I was going to help me.”
Evers will compete with Wilson for the backup role of dolphin in this summer. That is the second quarterback that he has drafted in the last three years; Miami took Skylar Thompson in the seventh round of the 2022 draft, and went to start three games as a crook, including the playoff necklace for the Buffalo Bill.
