In many ways, the construction of the largest team event of the year in badminton has matched the nature of the results of India on a tour: under control. Given the Thomas Cup Triumph of the famous men’s team in 2022, and to some extent, the Asia Team Championship in 2024 has hoped about the team’s events-that India can go with the world’s best with the toe when it comes in these Marquet tournaments which usually shows the badminton depth of a country.
On paper, with a fully fit squad, India would have fulfilled the possibilities of doing good in the Suderman Cup final this year, mainly due to better results in three doubles subjects in recent times.
While the form has recently been packed, Satwikasairaj RandidD-Chirag Shetty, and Tissa Jolly-Gopichand Gopichand must have been able to challenge most of the world’s couples on their day. But the former world no 1 male doubles couple – Sachi – as well as entries in the top 10 of the country – Trega – are not in the squad for the tournament, starting in Ziamen on Sunday. The Indian Express understands that both Tissis and Gayatri are carrying some kind of swallows, so fielding one of them in a scratch was not an option for women. The same with Satvik and Chirag, with recovering from a disease in the east, while later there were issues with his lower back, which led to his initial comeback from the prestigious All England Open last month.
Any other tournament does not test the depth of the badminton talent pool like the Sudirman Cup final. The top 16 teams will be seen in the 2025 edition of the biennial world mixed Team Championships, which qualify for the tournament through continental programs and compete for the world ranking prestigious title – and perhaps eventually come in a familiar feeling that no one does better than China. Badminton powerhouse, which has sometimes gone away in recent times in the programs of men and women’s world teams (Thomas and Uber Cup finals), is once again the highest favorite for the mixed team event, as all the five subjects have talent of talent.
For India, there are other seeds challenging Group D, Indonesia and European Powerhouse, Denmark. The England group is the fourth team, of which only the top two will create through the quarter -finals, a barrier that already seems difficult. Onnus comes to run India through an extremely difficult group on Laxman Sen, PV Sindhu and HS Pranoy.
The depth of the men’s doubles is especially as under the Sachi, the next best option is World No. 41 Hariharan Amasakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rathinasbapati, named no backup. But this is a golden opportunity for the youth to test water at this level. Shruti Mishra and Priya Konzengbam are slightly more experienced in women’s doubles, but India may be tempted to play Tanisha Crusto in a scratch if necessary. A similar effort can be made with Dhruv Kapila for men’s couple, as funky combinations are common in such events.
There has been a steady growth of Tanisha’s mixed doubles partnership with Silver Lining, Dhruv on India’s otherwise disappointing start for the BWF World Tour in 2025. Now until World No. 17, he was India’s last permanent contender at the Asia Championship this month and constantly building his level in Ningbo. Two singles win, plus one disturbed or mixed doubles, one will be India’s possible route for three of the five matches in a tie.

It is worth noting that Indonesia and Denmarks are not the strongest, but still claim better depth in discipline. Anthony Ginting has been out of action for some time, and Indonesia has recently lost the Paris Olympic medalist Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. But Jonatan Christie led the allegation, and an abundance of talent in doubles subjects, they begin as a lump sum favorite in the group.
This means that India has a win, informal knockout match at the beginning of day 1 day 1. Sindhu, Laxman and Sah have to defeat Denmark just to be in dispute.
Former Danish coach and commentator Stein Pederson predicted a close friend. “Ziamen’s visit without Victor Axlesen, Rasmas Jameke, Frederick Sogard and Mia Blochfelt. Thayzen/Frugard’s WD is retired and Astroop/Rasmusen has seen the form since the ritual injury.
If the Indus can catch the end of its deal, and anyone who is chosen for the single of men may be disturbed against Anders Antonsene, it can be interesting.

But beyond their possibilities of progress through knockout, the tournament gives the Indian contingent an opportunity to find a spark or two that has been a disappointing year so far. You never know, these team programs sometimes bring some extra to players. An atmosphere that they otherwise do not find themselves on tour.
