Forty years after President Ronald Reagan first imagined the idea, the defense industry leaders say that technology is eventually adequately advanced to create an invisible protective dome of space-based radars, missile interceptors and laser weapons in the United States.
President Donald Trump was influenced by the Iron Dome missile defense system on Israel, first ordered the Defense Department to attract plans for “Golden Dome”, an American version in January.
But Israel is roughly the size of the New Jersey, so a dome of security can prove to be far more difficult for the very large land mass of America and the dangers for Israel usually come from their neighbors, which use short distance weapons. America’s enemies – North Korea, Iran, Russia and China – are half the world and equipped with intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMS) and hypersonics, all factors that make the project more challenging for a nation on the size and scale of the US.
So there are questions. Will Golden Dome include the entire country, including Hawaii, Alaska and American military bases in places like Guam? Will it be able to protect from short-range missiles, long distance missiles, unmanned and manned aircraft?

Answer may come at least at the end of the month, when the Defense Department and Management and Budget Office introduced a dhan scheme for the project for the White House. But the leaders of the defense industry say that technology exists to make a golden dome a reality.
“In our view, it should be like a layered system. Because, you know, shooting a UAV, for example, is very different from a hypersonic vehicle or hypersonic weapon shooting,” Ratiyon CEO Phil Jasper told Fox News Digital. His aerospace company, a major US defense contractor, the Patriot missile system, the jewelin anti-tank missiles and a variety of radar and air defense systems.
The US already appoints a layered missile defense system known as command, control, battle management and communications (C2BMC) system, which uses radars to detect upcoming missiles and fire interceptors.
It has a technology such as Thaad (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) battery to intercept ballistic missiles and patriot, which has to intercepted cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and aircraft. But there are only seven active Thaad batteries in the country which are globally posted, it is expected to finish eighth this year.

Space Force General Michael Guitlin said weeks ago said that the construction of a golden dome would require the outlook of the missile defense agency, Air Force, Army, Army, Navy, Space Force, Coast Guard and more than a manhattan project-level government.
Defense contractors, some of whom believe that a Golden Dome had been on the horizon over the years, says that the security sector may begin around major cities such as New York and Washington, DC, or sensitive military sites before expanding to protect the entire motherland.
Edward Zois, president of Space and Airborne Systems for L3harris Technologies, said, “What do I understand (goal) really to protect the whole of America.
Jasper predicted that some of these defensive measures could be faster, as soon as they are until 2026.
He said, “What the administration has kept is that the building block approach that you can start protecting some areas, in some time, some areas, and build it because you continue to produce these systems. And they can come out of production lines,” he said.

Jonathan Moneymaker, CEO of Bluehalo, stated that the dome would “be less than a technology problem” and an organizational structure would be greater than the challenge.
The moneymaker said, “The full potential of all those abilities is working closely with each other, on that scale, there are certainly some new elements.”
John Clarke, Vice President of Lockheed’s Technology and Strategic Innovation, said the plan would need to think about the Pentagon “what is on the shelf.”
“There are systems that sit domestic in the Air National Guard today or in our current local defense infrastructure. They can actually be deployed inside the US,” he said.
Clarke stated that deploying defense infrastructure at home will attract our current inventory for struggle in the Greater world. ” But he suggested that today anything extracted from the army base can be backfilled for global use.
Zois, whose company, has already created satellites for the missile defense agency, L3harris Technologies, which can be used for a space-based radar system for Golden Dome, said the biggest challenge are the biggest challenge missiles that no longer follow forecast routes.
“If you go back to your high school physics class, if you understand the angle and trajectory of a tablet, you understand properly where it is about to land because it follows a perbola,” he said.

“ICBMS followed the perbola trajectory for decades. But excessive maneuver is no longer a new class of cruise weapons and hypersonic weapons,” he explained. “Their closing point is uncertain. And our defensive systems in the US will now have to change that weapon to be stronger to track into its entire trajectory.”
According to Zoiss, there will be an important element of dangers for the motherland in the future.
“Our challenge is really long distance weapons. You know, it is progressing a large distance that are maneuvering around our current land-based and sea-based radar systems. Therefore, if weapons are maneuvering around those systems, it means that our current architectural fire control ordinance cannot provide. And hence, it will have to be transferred to space.”
Golden Dome can already draw missile defense missions in work, such as the National Capital Region Integrated Air Defense System, designed to protect Washington, DC from the incoming hazards and employs systems such as Norwegian National Advanced Surfs-TU-Ai Missile System (NASAMS).
And it can already see other systems in small scale tasks. The army is working on a new iron dome -like air defense system in Guam which is known as indirect fire safety capacity (IFPC) increment 2 system. And it is developing a high-power microwave system that can knock the entire drone out of the sky.

Marine Corps plans to field three mobile air defense systems this year, including a modified iron dome launcher.
Other requirements may be over-the-hurizon radar, which involves filling blindpots in the arctic region for low-up missiles, embracing the Earth’s curvature to avoid detection.
Guitalin stated that the nation would have to “break the obstacles” between the title 10 of the United States Code and the title 50, federal laws that control the country’s defense and secret operations.
“Without a doubt, our biggest challenge is going to be organizational behavior and culture to bring all the pieces together,” Gutlin said.

In Trump’s budget request for the financial year 2026, most of the funds for the Congress are expected to be prescribed, on which the White House is working. Even with early money, the project may take years to complete, and it will not be cheap.
Steven Morani, who was acting as a defense underaceratory for acquisition and continuity, said on Wednesday that he was working with the private sector to resolve the “formidable” challenges of the project.
He said, “With the protection of the motherland and the executive order of President Trump, we are working with industrial base and supply chain challenges, which is associated with standing golden dome.”
