Colin Paarel has said that he will put his son James, who has Angelman syndrome, in a long -term care facility.

Angelman syndrome is a rare disorder that affects the nervous system and causes developmental delays between other issues. Last year, Fareel launched a foundation to provide assistance to intellectual disabled people and families in honor of James.

Fareel had earlier talked about the fact that when James turned 21 in September 2024, he would no longer eligible for cheap and accessible programs provided to families with children who have special requirements.

“All security measures are kept – special ED classes – all of this goes away. Therefore, you are left with a young adult, who should be an integrated part of our modern society and not leave more often.”
In 2024, Fareel reflected at a “intense” moment, he saw his son walking for the first time, telling People“I knew that he (James’ career was working on walking,” said the Irish actor. “And I stood there, and he let it go, and he just came (me). It was very deep. It was magic.”

He continued: “I will never forget the face of determination on him because he moved towards me. He took it, like, six steps, and I burst into tears.”
Paarel has another son, with 14-year-old Henry Tedesz Fareel, Elikeza Sheelda-Kuru.
