- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born on 19 February 1630 at Shivneri Fort near Junnar in Pune district.
- Some people believe that Lord Shiva inspired his name but scholars suggest that she was named after the local goddess Shivai.
- Shivaji Maharaj began the establishment of Swaraj and his goal was clearly stated in his royal seal or posture which was in Sanskrit. Seal promised that Shahaji’s son Shivaji’s kingdom will continue to grow like a semi -semi -moon and always works for the welfare of the people.
- He captured forts like Rajagad, Borna, Kondhana and Purandar to lay the foundation of Swaraj.
- In 1656, Shivaji Maharaj captured Javali in Satara district which was important for strategic reasons.
- Later, he took control of Rai, which was later named Raigad and became his capital.

- On June 6, 1674, he was crowned a respected scholars named Gaghat by a respected scholar in Raigad. Special coins were made – a gold coin and a copper coin called Shivari – with the legend Shri King Sri King Shivacharti.
