Chad Baker-Mazara of Obern, who launched 34 games during the last four of the tigers, announced on Thursday that he was entering the transfer portal.
Baker-Mahra, which turned 25 in January, has one year eligibility due to temporary exemption of NCAA, which allows students-athletes, who previously competed in non-NCA School-Joonier College or NAIA, essentially to play the fourth season at NCAA School in-2025-26.
A 6-Foot-7 Wing, Baker-Mazara, spent the last two sessions in Obern after playing a season in the state of Northwest Florida. He previously played in San Diego State and Duxne, with his new season for Duke, did not count his eligibility due to NCAA’s covid waiver for 2020–21.
An important, although esoteric, part of the success of Obern in the last few sessions, Baker-Majara average 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assisted in this last season, shooting 38.1% from 3-point range. He showed the ability to warm the perimeter, scored 18 points against Florida in the national semi-finals and was going at the end of the regular session for 22 points in the back-to-back game against Ole Miss and Kentaki.
Bruce Pearl has now lost his entire initial five from a team earning the number 1 overall seeds in the NCAA tournament, with All-American Johnny Broom and fellow starters Denver Jones, Dialyn Cardwell and Miles Kelly use their eligibility.
Pearl has made some splashes in the transfer portal, including Kishwan Hall (UCF) and Keshav Murphy (Mississippi State).
