Caric Rangers, who lost the match 3–0, issued a statement saying that both the club and the McIntire “apologize for any crisis”. The club also said that it would “try to make contact with the ball boy and his family.”
Local media reported that the Northern Ireland Police Service is continuing its investigation in the case.
Despite the incident, the referee did not release a booking to McIntire.
Caric Rangers said, “Any internal disciplinary investigation will remain confidential between the employee and the employer, according to the good practice of employment.”
