Carlos Alakraj will not be part of the Madrid Open Tennis tournament due to the current muscle injuries. The world not 3 said that he did not want to take the risk of making things worse before the French Open and he is still in the race to overcome the upper leg disease that obstructed his movement during the Barcelona Open final last Sunday.
Alkaraj, who was the favorite of the house at the Madrid Open to claim his third title after winning 2022 and 2023, convicted his injuries on the “actually tight” schedule, part of the tennis’s “Demanding Sport”.
“Madrid is one of the special tournaments for me, it is a tournament that I enjoy, I get to play in front of my fans, it’s one of the first tournaments when I was a child,” said Alkaraz. “This type of decision is not easy, but sometimes you have to think about your health and what is important. A Grand Slam is a Grand Slam. If I play here, I can make injuries worse and stay for several months and it is not worth it.”
He said: “Tennis is really a demanding game. Playing weeks after a week, so many matches in a row, and sometimes you have to fix your body and make a hard decision. The schedule is really tight, after the week, a really tough tournament, and sometimes you have to think about yourself, and sometimes you have to make the right decision as your health.”
Alakraj said that he was hoping to recover on time to protect his title in Rolland Garos.
“I’m not really worried about it,” said Alakraj. “I believe it is going to be a week, a week and one and a half week, two weeks to be maximum, but I will not doubt about coming back and moving 100% again.”
Alakraj will test his match fitness at the Rome Open ahead of the French Open, which begins on 25 May.

He said, “My mentality is to do everything to be 100 percent for Rome. I will do something tests earlier next week how it got better, and let’s see how it is going to happen the next day,” he said. “My hope is to play in Rome. If not, the next tournament is Rolland Garos for me. So I will try to stay in court as soon as possible.”
