Obern Tigers Men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl was nominated for the US Israel Education Association (USIEA) on Thursday.
Pearl College is one of a handful of Jewish coaches in basketball. He has been one of the most vocal supporters of Israel, which increased only in view of Hamas’s October 7 terrorist attack. He was one of the three Jewish head coaches who finalized NCAA in the last four weekends.

Pearl said in a news release, “I have been awarded deeply for being named President of the US Israel Education Association, and hope that I can also start filling the outgoing chair shoes.
“My experience in Israel was transformative. I felt that it was my responsibility to get more involved in the mission of USIEA and educate senior government leaders in the US on the importance of supporting Israel.

The USIEA has helped to build relations between us and Israel’s leaders and strengthen its communication on major issues.
The goal of Pearl is to increase the mission.
Pearl said, “I have dedicated most part of my life to teach young people about leadership, importance of values and different views.” “My job with usiea aligns with those principles, and I am excited to continue building a bridge of understanding between these two great countries.”

Pearl took Obern on a 32-6 record. The last four presence of the tigers was the team’s first since 2019. Pearl has brought Obern to only two of its last fours.
