Palm Beach, Fla.- Jimmy Halam, co-owner of Cleveland Brows, on Monday called the team’s business “Bada Swing-And Mise” for quarterback Dehan Watson.
In March 2022, Cleveland acquired Watson from Houston Texas in a business package that included three first round pics. Brown then signed a contract of $ 230 million to Watson, which was completely guaranteed.
Since joining the brown, Watson has started just 19 games due to suspension and injuries, posted one of the lowest total QBR in NFL and has suffered continuous season-ending injuries in 2023 and 2024.
“We took a big swing-end with Dehun at the annual meeting of the league on Monday at the annual meeting of the league.” “We felt that we have quarterbacks; we did not. And we gave a lot of draft pics to get it, so we got to dig ourselves from that hole.
“… (business) was the decision of a complete organization and it ends with D (Halam) and I, so hold us accountable.”
Watson, a three -time Pro Bowl selection with Texas tore his right Akilis tendon in October and conducted a second operation after retaining his Akilis in January. Brown said Watson is expected to remember an important part of the 2025 season.
His legal troubles have helped derail his career in Cleveland. Watson served the 11-game suspension in 2022, as more than two dozen women accused them of sexual harassment and improper conduct during massage sessions. A pair of Texas Grand Jerse refused to carry out criminal allegations against Watson, but after the NFL and NFL Players Association they served their suspension, which became an agreement on his discipline.
Watson is still $ 46 million in each of the next two sessions in Cleveland.
Brown’s quarterback room currently consists of Watson and Kenny Picket, which the team did in mid -March. Brown coach Kevin Stefanski said that the picket will get an opportunity to compete to start in 2025.
Despite the entry that the Watson trade failed, Halam said that the team is not bound to take quarterbacks with the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
“It would be great if we can get ‘quarterbacks’, but we are not going to force it,” Haslam said. “We are going to be patient and we are going to try to accumulate as good football players.”
