London: Harry Brook has been appointed as England’s new white-ball captain, with the team’s head Rob’s “excellent cricket brain”.
The England and Wales Cricket Board on Monday confirmed that Brooke would lead both the one -day international and T20 teams.
The 26 -year -old Yorkshire was a favorite for making batsman Jose Butler successful, standing below after a condolence Champions Trophy campaign in Pakistan in February, failing to reach England’s semi -finals.
England failed to maintain their T20 or 50 over World Cup titles under Butler’s captaincy.
Brook was already a deputy of Butler and stood as a captain during a ODI series against Australia in September.
Unlike many other potential candidates, Brooke is also the first choice selection in all formats.
Concerns had increased about whether it would obstruct Brooke’s career as a test batsman, he was to be given the captaincy of white ball.
Director of Men’s Cricket’s England also raised the idea that Test Skipper Ben Stokes Lord could take over as captain in small formats, speaking during a press conference in the last month.
But the 33-year-old all-rounder Stokes is currently recovering from a second prominent Hamstring tear in six months’ space and now it should be fully able to focus on being ready for India and Australia to be ready for the upcoming red-ball chain at home.
Brooke played 26 Odis for England, scored 816 runs at an average of 34.00, with a top score of 110. In T20, he has earned 44 caps and scored the highest score of 81.
He was also a member of the England team who won the 2022 T20 World Cup.
“This is a real honor to be named England’s White-Ball Captain,” Brook said.
“Ever since I was a child playing a cricket at a Burley-in-Worfedel, I dreamed of playing for England, representing Yorkshire, and maybe one day led the team. Now that opportunity should be given, it means a big deal for me.”
He said: “There is a lot of talent in this country, and I am eager to start, we are working towards moving forward, and winning the series, World Cup and major programs.”
Ki said: “I am glad that Harry Brook has accepted the role of England’s White-Ball captain in both formats. He has been a part of our succession plan for some time, although this opportunity has come a little before expectation.
“Harry is not only an excellent cricketer, but also a clear vision for an excellent cricket brain and both teams that will help us win more chains, World Cup and major global tournaments.”
Brook will start its rule as a full-time white-ball captain with an ODI series against the West Indies, which will begin on 29 May in Edgbaston. This will be followed by three matches T20 series.
