Diddy formerly signed B5 to his record label Bad Boy Records
Boyband B5 opened up about their experience being signed to Diddy’s record label, Bad Boy Records, under the light of his ongoing trial.
The R&B group, based on the five Breeding family brothers, Dustin Michael, Kelly Allen, Patrick Owen, Carnell Frederick, and Bryan Jesse Breeding, was previously working with Diddy’s label as teenagers and alleged that they had a horrible experience with him.
Patrick Breeding, one of the members of the group recalled the disgraced music mogul being aggressive with him over the phone when he was just a 14-year-old.
“We were getting ready for our second single, You Got Me, and we were working on choreography,” Patrick said of the 2005 incident in an interview with The U.S. Sun.
“We were making adjustments to it, and [Combs] was like, I don’t like that, let’s change this. So, when we left rehearsal, he had called. I think management was like, let me speak to Patrick. So, I was on the phone talking with [Combs].”
The boyband member continued, “I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ He’s like, ‘How’s it looking? Have you guys made the changes?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, we made the changes. It looks great. I feel like everything is pretty much good to go.’ And then he kind of just like switched.”
He added, “I was surprised and shocked because I haven’t experienced that,” Patrick, one of the group’s lead vocalists.”
Dustin Breeding chimed in, saying, “He just didn’t like the answer, I guess, it set him off. For me, I just had an experience with him just kind of jumping on the phone with me. I guess I said something to my mom, which I don’t know how he got that information.”
Surprised by Diddy’s behaviour, he added, “He was yelling at me. I was taken aback a little bit, like, where’s this animosity coming from?”
Speaking of the Freak Off parties, Dustin said, “I knew Diddy was a wild boy, I just didn’t know he was like that.”
“Everybody knew. He was always throwing parties. He was here, there, music, clothing, and also he was the CEO, so he was always all over the place,” Patrick said.
“There was this unforgivable party we went to, and [there] wasn’t anything illegal or anything going on, but you could definitely just tell,” Dustin echoed.
