bootsHigh Street Pharmacy Chain Boots is asking customers to return the pack of the 500-Miligram paracetamol tablet because a labeling error incorrectly explains that they are a separate painkiller, aspirin.
More than 110,000 packs, batch number 241005 and “12/2029” are affected, below the expiry date.
Customers can get a complete refund without a receipt.
Boots and Suppliers, Asparagus Pharmaceuticals Limited, have started a complete investigation.
The external cardboard packaging is correctly labeled: “Paracetamol 500mg Tablet” but the internal foil of tablets reads instead: “Aspirin 300mg Dispersable Tablet”.
The affected pack should not be used or placed, even if the error is known, it can cause incorrect doses.
And whoever bought this product for someone else, should tell them as soon as possible.

Dr. from medicines and healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). Stephanie Milikan said: “Patient safety is always our priority.
“It is important important that you check the packaging of your boots Paracetamol 500mg Tablet 16S – and if the batch number is 241005, you should stop using the product and return to the boot store for full return.
“If you are uncertain that which pack you have bought or have taken a boot paracetamol 500mg tablet and experience any side effects, consult a healthcare professional.
“Please report any suspected adverse reactions through MHRA’s yellow card scheme.
“If you have any questions or require them more advice, please consult your pharmacist or other relevant healthcare professional.”
Paracetamol is an effective pain reliever for mild or moderate pain. It can be better than aspirin for headache, toothache, sprain and abdominal pain.
