On the second day of this year’s Kachela, a close, K-Pop Girl Group Blackpink made history on Saturday night when he became the first Asian Act to headline the festival. Allegedly, for a crowd of over 125,000 people, Jenny, Jizu, Lisa and Rosa used a ground-breaking moment to pay tribute to the Korean heritage by reaching the stage in Hanbox: a traditional type of dress.
While the clothing was excluded from a few seconds in their early tracks, “Pink Venom”, each member’s custom black and pink dolce and Gabbana organization, revealing the organization, had already received the message to fans around the world. Last year, she was the first woman-pap group to reach number 1 in the UK and the US album chart, and in 2020 her track “How You Like That” became the most watched video on YouTube in 24 hours. (The group also wore the Hanbox designed by Kim Danha in one of the music video scenes.) In the weekend, his landmark was actually a follower for another milestone: In 2019, in 2019, he became the first woman to play in Kachela or any other American festival.

In Korea, Hanbok is still worn for special occasions and often seen TV drama. Many designers of the country have also created contemporaries which are involved in everyday wear. At Seoul Fashion Week, the Fall-Vinter 2023 collection of the JulyColum attracted to Hanbok’s voluntary silhouette to make shirts and structured jackets. Last September, the Korean label Bluetamburin brought a garment to a Western audience using the traditional Hanbok fabric to create its spring-sum 2023 collection at Milan Fashion Week.

At the end of his performance, and after addressing the audience amid numbers in English during his two -hour long performance, Blackpink finished his set in Korean: “So far, it is Jenny, Jisu, Lisa and Rosa Blackpink. Thank you.”
