The German prosecutors said on Saturday that the suspect at the Holocost Memorial in Berlin on Friday was inspired by the anti-Jewish, as the internal minister Nancy Faper called him to deport Syria from jail.
Berlin police said, “According to what we know till now, on the basis of the statements made by the accused to the police, he has been planning to kill the Jews for several weeks.”
The office of the Public Prosecutor said that the incident was “related to the Middle East Conflict”.
A 30 -year -old Spanish tourist was seen seriously injured with a knife in the attack.
The victim was admitted to the hospital with wounds around his neck and conducted emergency operations. His life is no longer at risk.
Officials said the suspect, who was arrested after the police hours after the incident, is a 19 -year -old Syrian refugee who entered Germany as a minor in 2023.
They are believed to have targeted the Holocost Memorial, especially in the German capital, which recalls about 6 million Jews killed under the Nazi regime.
The suspect was also asked to take the Quran and a prayer rug to his Ruxack, which suggests a religious purpose for the attack.
Police said, “Is there a matter of mental illness investigation.”
Officers in the eastern state of Saxony, where suspects lived, said that he was earlier known for the police for criminal offenses.
According to Saxony’s internal ministry, a 19 -year -old is not a repetition or serious criminal.
According to DPA information, he was not obliged to leave the country and was staying in a shared residence in Leapzing.
Faeser calls for exile
The incident came exactly two days before the heads of Germany after the German election campaign, which was dominated by a series of attacks responsible for foreign nationals.
Internal Minister Feser expressed his terror in the attack, called for seriously punishing the alleged criminal and punishing “directly exiled from jail”.
“The knife attack in the Berlin Holocost Memorial is a heinous and cruel crime,” Feser said in a statement on Saturday.
“Anyone who protects such crimes and abuses in Germany does not give any right to be in our country in the most disgusting way,” Faeser said.
She announced that she would use all the routes to “send violent criminals back to Syria.”
Faser wished the injured person rapid recovery and thanked the Berlin police and emergency services.
Berlin Mayor Kai Vegner also condemned the “coward” attack. “It is clear for me that anyone who wants security in Germany does not attack people with a knife.”
“I hope the next federal government to ensure that such criminals have lost their protected position and will have to leave our country quickly,” the mayor continued.
Berlin’s internal senator, Iris Springer condemned the attack and said that he would hop that the victim would be cured.
