Babur Azam and half a century of Mazz Sadakat operated Peshawar Zalmi for a concrete victory over Islamabad United, which submitted its second defeat in the Pakistan Super League.
Chasing a modest target of 144, Zalmi landed for an explosive start, when Mitchell Owen launched six directly with the first ball of Kyle Mayors’ magic.
However, the Mayors immediately returned, dismissed Owen at the next delivery and brought Captain Babar Azam to the crease with Sam Ayub.
Ben Dwarshuis killed in the following over, removing Sam Ayub for only one, leaving Zalmi 12–2 after 1.2 overs.
Babar Azam and Mohammad Haris then added 26 runs for the third wicket, before Haris scored 13 runs off 12 balls.
Zalmi found stability as Babur and debut Maj Sadakat held a significant 50-run stand together for the fourth wicket, taking the team to the team by 93–3 by the end of the 12th over.
Maz made a sensational knock in her first PSL outing, reached a well -earned half a century and rapidly extended to chasing with her captain.
Babar Azam also brought his 35th PSL Fifty in style, maintaining the role of a solid anchor throughout the innings.
With just four runs needs to win, Naseem Shah returned to the attack and broke the 100 -run partnership by rejecting Maj for a brilliant 55 off 33 balls.
However, Zalmi completed the chase in the 17th over, with Babur scored 53 runs in 49 delivery, and Max Bryant won.
Earlier, Islamabad United posted a total of 143 for 9 in its 20 overs, helping Ben Buersuis to recover after batting collapse against Peshawar Zalmi with late fireworks.
To bat first, Islamabad United made a promising debut, with opener Sahibzada Farhan and Kyle Mayors an early pace.
The pair formed a solid 50 -run partnership, attacking Zalmi’s bowlers with an aggressive approach.
However, Zalmi broke after the powerplay when Pesar Ahmed Daniel rejected Farhan by scoring 36 runs in 35 balls, leaving United 58–1 in 8.4 overs.
In the next over, Mohammad Ali removed the mayors for 18 runs in 18 delivery, reducing Islamabad by 62–2 in 9.1 overs.
Zalmi continued Inroads as spinner Sam Ayub removed Aga Salman, who worked on just four balls off seven balls in the 11th over.
Captain Shadab Khan then looked at the retaliation, adding continuous borders with Colin Munro, adding 22 runs for the fourth wicket.
However, both were rejected in quick succession. Shadab scored 15 runs in 8 balls before being sent back, while Munro soon left United 89–4 in 12.5 overs after 11.
Mohammad Ali, by removing Saad Masood for just one run, completed the three-wicket race and continued his impressive mantra by reducing United in 14 overs by 91-6.
Luke Wood rejected Azam Khan for eight off seven balls, as he was struggling at 107–7 in 16.1 overs.
Imd Wasim and Ben Dwarshuis tried to stabilize the innings with some important late runs, but their resistance did not last long.
Babur Azam’s brilliant straight hit came out of Imad for 10, bringing Islamabad down to 124–8 in the 18th over.
Zalmi’s tight bowling and sharp fielding ensured that Islamabad could not recover, eventually limited them to the bottom-bore 134–9.
Dwarshuis remained unbeaten with an important 33 in 17 delivery, while Nasim Shah contributed just one run before he was dismissed on the final ball.
Earlier, Islamabad United won the toss and selected the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday to bat first against Peshawar Zalmi in the 22nd match of 10.
